I enjoy my own company,
Away from the neighbours prying eyes,
Living alone without any friends or enemies,
The energetic buzz of society, my least worries.
Sometimes, a snub I’m called,
“Walking with high shoulders,
Distancing myself from my fellow humans,
As if they were plagues”, they tell me.
If only they understand,
That my heart is fragile,
To experience the pains and tears,
Heartbreaks, betrayals, and cruelties,
Of man, leaving a deep scar in my soul.
Finding solace in my loneliness,
With little or no interference or stress,
Giving help within my capabilities,
Attaching my value and self-respect,
And distancing the sharp-tongues of rumour mongers.
